Al hear from Forest City Computers giving you an insight as to where you might be getting Viruses and pops when your browsing on the internet.
I get customers that call or come in to my store daily with the same story ” Im not sure where Im getting all these pop ups and Viruses”
Most Viruses will come from:
1) Free movie and Tv show Websites – all these websites that offer free tv shows and movies on the internet are filled with Viruses, spyware, and add ons, I DO NOT recommend going to any of these websites
2) Going to what you think is the right website, But its not: For example you go to Google and type ” Free Virus protection” Often times you will be led to many websites that claim they will give you free Virus protection, when in matter fact, they ill actually be injecting your computer with annoying pop ups, viruses and eventually making your Laptop/Desktop/Mac almost in inoperable.
3) Downloading 3rd party programs that come with many add on programs: For example, If you go to Google and download a program to burn music, you will find many ” FREE” programs that do that, so you go ahead and press the download button and quickly press next, next, next so you can do what you wanted ” Burn Music” Well what you just did by pressing next, next, next is also downloaded many add on programs that all the sudden monitor your web searches and and send you pop ups based on what your searching for. For example, if you were searching for a good place to dine, your all the sudden going to be getting many pop ups about places near you to go and try, It will get very annoying.
4) Opening Email attachments – Computers can become infected when users open e-mail attachments that contain malicious code. Even if the message is from a co-worker, friend, or family member, always use caution before opening a link or downloading an attachment. As a general rule, do not open e-mail you were not expecting to receive.
5) No Antivirus – If you’re running a computer with Microsoft Windows, we highly recommended you have some form of antivirus and spyware protection. This software removes existing (if any) viruses and helps prevent future infections.
